During ELA, we learned about the Elements of a Story by watching the Wizard of Oz. Students classified the elements of a story: Protagonist, Antagonist, Conflict, Setting, Plot, Climax, Denouement, and Theme to several aspects of the movie in their movie report. We also read the short story, "The Hundred Dollar Bill" and connected the Elements of a Story to the short story we read.
In Mathematics we were introduced to Properties, such as Properties of Multiplication and Addition, as well as, the Distributive Property. Although they were confusing at first, students managed to identify them correctly. We also continued to have the 60 Second Sweep, Buzz, and Mental Math.
We had an excellent Science Lab this week. The title of the science lab was "Dissolving M&M's" and we observed which color M&M would dissolve faster when mixed with water.
We had a great "Fun-Friday," which also included community circle (Secret Buddy) and Community Building activities. For the community building activity we had Evolution. Students connected the strategies used in Evolution to our regular classroom.
Thanks to Angelina for helping me with the Blog Post! We have great things to look forward to this week, especially with Classroom Economy!
