It has been a wonderful journey being back in Texas. I arrived on Thursday afternoon at 4pm. I met with my friend teachers and had a pleasant visit with them. On Friday I had the opportunity to return to Rio Grande City (where I taught the past two years) and visit my old school. I was able to see former students and coworkers. I also visited one of my former students who is now a seventh grader (WOW, Mr. Ibarra is getting old!) He says 7th grade is easier thanks to how challenging my class was, which is a nice reminder to all of us to keep working hard!
I also had the happiest of times seeing Joel, he is now in kindergarten and going to a different school. He is a jolly as always and continues to play chess to the point where he got his school to start a chess club, isn't that something?

I also spent my time visiting several friends from the Rio Grande Valley. I even enjoyed a great lunch right by the Rio Grande River which borders Mexico. (picture below)

Saturday and Sunday included more visits with friends and hanging out around McAllen. I returned on Monday in the early morning and made it back to Soledad in the evening. Excited to be back in our little town (city) and getting back to our good-hard work!
