Dear Parents/Guardians:
The beginning of a new school year has arrived and Gabilan Elementary School is excited to welcome you and your student to this year’s fifth grade class. My name is Mr. Ibarra and I will be your student’s teacher. I am excited to be at Gabilan and return to my home district. For the past two years I taught 5th grade in Rio Grande City, Texas. I’m excited to be coming back to Soledad, a place that is very dear to me.
I was born in Mexico and immigrated to the United States when I was very young. I grew up in Soledad. I attended San Vicente, Gabilan, Main Street Middle School, and Soledad High School. I graduated as a double major from St. Mary’s College of California and received my master’s in education from the University of Notre Dame. It’s good to be back in Soledad and support our wonderful community.
Education is about empowering students to develop strong characters, build community, serve others, and integrate their learning into enduring knowledge that will help them for the rest of their lives. Throughout this year, your student will be provided opportunities to do exactly that. I am sincerely passionate about education, especially about educating the whole child: mind and heart. If you have any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact me. We are blessed you have entrusted your student to us and we will do our best to provide them with the necessary tools to be successful. I appreciate in advance your completion of the parent survey, class dojo registration, website consent form, and am looking forward to a great year.
Sincerely,
Mr. Ibarra
