This week in English Language Arts we learned the Good Reading Strategies we will utilize throughout the year. By using Visualize, Ask Questions, Summarize, Make Connections, Clarify, Prediction, and Metacognition. We also were introduced to I PICK Good-Fit Books and Read to Self Independently. It was exciting to have everyone select a book and start reading.
We started our Geography Unit in Social Studies. We will continue to learn about the continents and then move on to learn about USA Geography. During Science, we learned about the Scientific Method which consists of asking a Question, developing a Hypothesis, including Materials, Procedures, Observations, Data Analysis: Methods and Results, and a Conclusion. We had our first Science Lab which introduced us to the Scientific Method. The science lab required us to save Sam from drowning. We collaborated and used critical-thinking in order to rescue Sam.
Mathematics was a continuation of last week, we continued to learn about Place Value and this upcoming week we will learn about Properties of Multiplication and Division.
This week also included Secret Buddy and Community Building. For Community Building we participated in Elves, Wizards, and Giants, as well as, Will you Smile. Both activities required collaboration, appreciation, and active participation. We still have much to do, but we had a successful week!
